Reflections of an Abbot

While you were sleeping

I saw you this morning sound asleep;
On that bed you were dreaming deep.
Blanket's draped all over your body,
You were like a baby sleeping in blissful harmony.

I stood by the bedpost,
Watching you like a ghost.
I wanted to touch your hand, your hair, your face,
And watch you smile in your sleeping grace.

I watched you stir,
You woke up and smiled and fixed your hair.
Still I sat there,
As I fell in love with you more than ever.
